VISITORS

If you plan to visit EABC for an event in 2023 this page should provide you with the information you will need regarding facilities, local accommodation, travel and catering/provisioning. To get to the club you will need to pass through the Port of Larne  -all vessels MUST CALL into Larne VTS on VHF channel 11 before entering.

Port Control will advise you of any Shipping Movements and Safety information. This is a usual document produced by Larne VTS with help from EABC.

Facilities

Boats can come alongside Wymers Pier to take on water or provisions (North, south or on the end) approx HW +/- 2 hours. The pier can accommodate boats up to approximately 12M / 40 ft depending on tide. The slipway and pier can both be used by dinghies.

If the premises are open - showers, toilets, changing and other facilities can be made available. Please telephone or e mail prior to coming ashore to make sure someone is present.

Anchoring & Mooring

Larne Lough provides excellent shelter and good holding along the Islandmagee Shore. Look south and you will see the disused quarry that is used in the filming of Game of Thrones (Castle Black). Advice on anchoring can be found here.

If a club mooring is free it may be made available. Contact the club or call in to ask. Moorings are checked annually but you would be using them at your own risk.

Gate Access

East Antrim Boat Club has a security gate. If you need to arrange to exit or enter the premises please contact:

honsec@eabc.club or commodore@eabc.club, arrangements can be made to accomodate as required.

They will be able to give you the number of a club member who has remote access to the gate.

Summer Bar Hours

Tuesday & Thursday 7pm - 11pm

Friday: 5pm - 11pm

Saturday: 5pm - 11pm

If the bar is open you can be signed in by any member and will be made very welcome. During the summer months, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and most Sundays are quite busy with racing or training taking place. You would be welcome to join in!

Wi-Fi is available in the club building and is free. We also have a very useful weather station.

Local Amenities

Larne town centre is about 20 minutes walk away. There is a footpath up the lefthand side of the dual carriageway and this leads to a safe path down and under the road. The town has a fairly good variety of shops to meet most needs.

Instead of going up the carriageway, when you come to the roundabout, you can take the next exit to get to Asda and a good range of eating places. This is about ten minutes walk from the boat club. This area has an Asda, a cinema, Dominos (they will deliver if the club gate is open), KFC, Brooklyn Bay Diner, Chillitos Mexican, Cafe Riva Italian, Subway, a 24hour garage and a gas bottle supplier. There is an Indian and several chinese restaurants in the town and most deliver.

If the club bar is not open you can find a popular bar on Fleet Street. Go right at the harbour roundabout and you can’t miss it. In the summer The Olderfleet is very busy at the weekend but the large beer garden out back helps to ease the congestion.

Medical

The nearest Accident and Emergency is twenty miles away at Antrim Area Hospital. For out of hours non-emergencies contact Dalriada Doctor on Call for advice and explain that you are a visitor to the area.

They also run an emergency dental clinic. The town centre has several pharmacies.
